Hello, I’m Sarah.
I’m Sarah Ashrafi, Senior HR Manager and Head of the HR Department at Abed Holdings Ltd. in Dhaka. Since October 2023, I have led HR strategy in the real estate development sector, connecting workforce needs with business objectives.
My work brings together talent acquisition, employee engagement, payroll and compliance. I also collaborate across departments on workforce planning and leadership development, with a focus on building a culture that supports both people and performance.
Professional focus
My experience spans employee relations, learning and development, performance appraisal, labour law, diversity and inclusion policies, and HR analytics. Alongside people management, I bring a background in financial operations, reporting and business analysis.
The path to HR leadership
Before joining Abed Holdings, I worked as a Manager at Lucky Engineering Ltd. in Dhaka from March to September 2023. Earlier, in Australia, I worked as a Financial Assistant at Mercure Sydney International Airport from July to October 2017, followed by a Finance Assistant and Night Audit role at Mercure Penrith from November 2017 to July 2018.
Those finance roles involved accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliation, payment processing and resolving billing disputes. My early experience also includes an internship at Standard Chartered Bank in Dhaka and an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant role at East West University in 2013.
Education & continued learning
I hold an MBA in Human Resource Management from Charles Darwin University, Australia (2018–2020), a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia (2014–2016), and a BBA in Finance & HRM from East West University, Bangladesh (2009–January 2014).
My further qualifications include a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) from WARD and certification in Interviewing Techniques for Hiring Managers.
